Some of Hampshire's Amateur Dramatics Clubs

A selection of martial arts and self defence clubs in Hampshire

Hampshire has many Amateur Dramatics Societies and Theatre Arts Clubs for children and adults. Almost every town and village has opportunities for enthusiastic amateurs to learn and take part in regular productions involving acting, singing, dancing or whatever your skills may be.
If you are a little shy most societies and clubs need new members for off-stage work such as management, artwork, props and costumes, scene shifting, or just to make tea!
Acting, singing and dance help with confidence building and self-esteem.

Below is a selection of Hampshire's Amdram Societies and Clubs.

Stagecoach Theatre Arts

Established over 20 years ago, and offering drama, singing and dance for boys and girls aged 4-16. Students gain confidence and self-esteem and training for life. Stagecoach runs over 700 drama schools in the UK, including in Hampshire, at Andover, Basingstoke, Bournemouth, Eastleigh, Fareham, Farnborough, Havant, Isle of Wight, Liphook, Petersfield, Southampton, Winchester, etc.
See website for details and your nearest venue.

Headley Theatre Club

An active and friendly amateur dramatics society established in 1952. Their policy is to welcome all comers as members whatever their talent. Even tea-makers usually end up on the stage anyway! Typically the club puts on a pantomime, a 3-act play, and a musical event every year, often doing more than this depending on the talents, enthusiasm and availability of members.
The Society also has a Junior Section for boys and girls aged 6-11, and a Youth Section for 12-18 yearolds, who also put on their own shows from time to time.
There are also opportunities to try your hand at lighting, stage management, costumes, artwork, publicity, etc., plus a full social calendar of events for club members.

Bench Theatre Company

An amateur dramatics society based in Havant and always keen to welcome new members for acting, singing and dancing, off stage work, or merely general support.

Stockbridge Amateur Dramatics Society (SADS)

A small, but ambitious, amateur dramatics club serving the Hampshire market town of Stockbridge and nearby villages.
There are usually 2 or 3 main performances a year, including an outdoor production in July, a popular feature in the Stockbridge events calendar.
The Society also includes Young SADS, a thriving group of teenagers and younger members, who put on their own productions as well as contributing to the main performances.

Proteus Theatre Company - Basingstoke

Proteus is a professional touring theatre company resident in Basingstoke with a twenty five year history of high quality work. They play a key role in the provision of performance and participatory opportunities for the community, producing a programme of touring shows, projects, residencies, theatre-based training and workshops. They enjoy a high profile across the south east region and regularly reach a target audience of over twenty five thousand people through their work.
Proteus creates work collaborating with artists, often from different disciplines, and seeks to develop work where different art forms, e.g. photography, film, dance, music or visual arts work with Proteus to create performance art work. This enables the artists working with them to be inspired and informed by each other via the working process. They make work for and with diverse communities, from rural villages to socially excluded young people, creating amazing experiences and enriching lives through the performing arts.
